The Process
This project was a truly collaborative effort. At the beginning, Karen wasn’t entirely sure what she wanted her site to look like—she just knew she wanted it to be beautiful, simple, and functional. We guided her through the process, helping her articulate her vision and clarify what mattered most to her.
Through this collaboration, we worked on defining her brand identity, curating a cohesive visual aesthetic that complemented her watercolor paintings. We explored color palettes, typography, and layouts that would enhance rather than overshadow her work. By carefully selecting soft, elegant tones and timeless fonts, we created a site that felt like an organic extension of her art.
Initially, the web designer in me over-designed the site, incorporating too many details and design elements. But Karen had a clear preference for simplicity, and she asked me to refine it even further. Her request was a reminder that sometimes, less is truly more. We stripped the design back to its essentials, focusing on negative space, clean lines, and a layout that lets her work breathe. The result? A sleek and elegant online home that serves as the perfect showcase for her watercolor paintings.
